TMC Meet Me Downtown 5K & Festival of Miles

TMC 5k Night Run registrants can now upgrade to the Triple Crown. If you signed up for the 5k or the Mile but now want to join the Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown, all you have to do is sign up here.
 
All registrants will receive:
  • Registration, t-shirt, medal and all the race goodies for the September 10th TMC Tucson 10k/5k, staged at Pima Community College West, nestled in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains.
 
  • Registration, long sleeve t-shirt, medal and all the race goodies for the October 22nd TMC A-Mountain Half-Marathon and Four Miler, staged at the Mercado San Agustin Annex at the base of A-Mountain.
 
  • The “Gabe Zimmerman Meet Me Downtown” souvenir desktop medallion, perfect for desktop or coffee table display.
 
  • One of the remaining technical “Run Tucson” colorful orange shirts, with sizing first-come, first-served until we run out.
 
Registration ends June 30, 2023 and pricing is $90. If you did the TMC Meet Me Downtown 5k, take advantage of this Triple Crown add-on to snag the final two races of the series.

 JUNE: Pick up race goodies at the Running Shop, 3055 North Campbell Avenue on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
Friday, May 26, In-person Registration and Packet Pickup: 3:00-6:00 PM.

Pick up your race number and shirt at The Running Shop (3055 North Campbell Ave).

All race bib numbers for the 5k, the 1-mile, and the FitKidz mile will be in the Running Shop. The TMC Meet Me Downtown souvenir shirts for the 5k early registrants will also be in the Running Shop. For those who registered for the Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown, the souvenir medallion and shirt will be at the TMC tent in front of the Running Shop.

Registration FAQ’s:

Yes: You can pick up items for friends. Remember to ask what shirt size they want.
Yes: Shirts come in both standard unisex and women’s cut.
Yes: T-shirt sizing is first come, first served.
No: Coming to the Running Shop before 3:00 PM will not save you time. For the quickest pick-up experience,  come after the first hour.

Saturday, May 27, Race Night: 5:00-6:30 pm. 

Race night registration and packet pickup at the Children’s Museum (200 South Sixth Avenue).

There will be a chute-based system in front of the Children’s Museum for those who pick up their race items on race day.
You’ll enter from the north, and get your race number and race race shirt (if you registered before Friday).

If you have registered for the Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown, continue along the chute to receive your souvenir medallion and your souvenir GabeZ shirt from the BEYOND tent, then exit the chute system to the south.

The Children’s Museum is offering free admission on race afternoon with a race number. If an adult runs, a child gets in free. If a child runs, an adult gets in free. Just show your race number or your FitKidz number at the entrance.

6:00 pm: Open Mile Race.

6:15 pm:  High School & Middle School Mile.

6:30 pm: SAR FitKidz Mile 

7:00 pm: TMC Meet Me Downtown 5k Run/Walk 

8:30 pm: Awards
The 5K race is chip-timed. All prize money will be based on gun-time, all age-group awards will be based on chip-time. 5k Age Group awards are courtesy of The Running Shop.  Prize Money to overall winners is courtesy of TMC and Run Tucson.

Post-Race After-Party:  Hotel Congress, 311 E Congress. Bring your race number. Details to be announced.

Missed the race?
Shirts and medals of registrants who could not make it to the race will be available at The Running Shop through the end of June.  T-shirt sizing will be whatever is left.

While the route will be closed to traffic, please be mindful of vehicles and standard night-time road concerns, such as potholes, speedbumps, curbs, and the like.

Report:
5k: For the third year in a row, Harry Mulenga took the top spot, cruising to victory in 16:22. Randy Chavez from Scottsdale snagged second place in 16:39, while third place was a photo finish with Peter Davidson of Mile’s Adventure Tea nipping overall master’s runner Orlando Vasquez from the Workout Group team in 16:44.
 
First place in the women’s race was Kiera Woodman from Prescott, running a swift 18:24. Kiera took the double of the day, after winning the mile. Kendra Watson from Team Workout Group took second place in 18:53, while third went to Billie Lubis in 19:12. First place in the Master’s Division was Cara Payne, local triathlete standout.
 
Notable doubles for the evening include overall women’s champ, Kiera Goodman, who won both the Mile and the TMC 5k Night Run. Other double finishers of note include Harry Mulenga’s second place in the mile and first in the 5k and Billie Lubis who snagged third in both races.
Open Mile: Miles Dunbar blistered the Open Mile course in a super-speedy 4:21, putting him 7 seconds ahead of two-time defending champion Harry Mulenga second place effort of 4:28. UA track standout Logan Marek cruised to a third place finish in 4:34.
 
First place woman was Prescott’s Kiera Woodman, getting around the flat mile course in 5:13, nine-seconds ahead of the Workout Group’s Jori Galles. In third place was Billie Lubis, running 5:39.
 
High School Mile: We’re excited to begin the tradition of promoting teen-age running in Tucson. First place in the Boys Mile was Gilbert’s Crewe Resendez, who set a new course record of 4:44, narrowly beating Miika Lagat’s 4:44. Last-year’s winner Aric Accetta took third in 4:48. (Long-time Arizona runners will recognize all three last names — it’s great to see the youngsters carrying on family traditions . . .)
 
In the Girls Mile, Olivia Cornelius set a new HS course record in 6:39, with Gizelle Paredes taking second in 7:07 and Teagan Smith finishing third in 7:21.
 
Duo Results: Thanks to Team Hoyt for coming out — congratulations to the Josh Greiner duo for taking first overall, with other Duo teams Ryland McDaniel, Lucas King, Luke Senner, and Hannah Loughrrey.
 
SAR’s FITKIDZ Mile: There were 115 FitKidz participants, with 10-year-old Liam Newell taking first overall in a speedy 6:21. The first place girl was Finley Johnson, dipping under 7-minutes in a fine time of 6:58. Special thanks to SAR’s Board member Jeri Baker for managing all the FitKidz race day activities — if you won an award, please visit the Running Shop to pick it up before the end of June.
